New Day

The phone rang at 4am. "Rise and shine," hums the synthesized voice on the other end.
"Thank you, Winks. How did you sleep?" I sass.
"Most comfortably."
I snort. The humor chip needs work but it will suffice.

Trifextra: Week Six

This week, you're all starting with the same 5 words and your task is to turn it in to your own story in only 33 words. The 5 we have given you are NOT to be counted in the 33 words.
The phone rang at 4am.

  3. I like it. Reminds me of a Ray Bradbury start.

  4. Well, your humor chip is working fine.
I would really like to see the more of the story.

  6. That was fun. I liked the humor take, because it's hard to laugh at a 4am wake-up call. ;)

  8. Makes me think of Donna Andrews' Turing Hopper series. Except in those, the computer is sentient.

  9. Somehow this reminds me of the Bicentennial Man

  10. I was going for more of a cross between Red Dwarf and The Jetsons, but these other comparisons are great, too.

  11. Gah I love FutureDrama! This is very fun. Humour chip indeed ...

  12. Nothing like a creepy synthesized "rise and shine" to start the day. I think it should be accompanied by strobe lights, a disco ball, and the sandstorm song... and possibly fireworks and/ or explosions... and dancing women... or men depending on how you roll. I mean, it is the future. Thank you for giving me a futuristic daydream while i sit here... in KFC...questioning my existence.
